Due to increased interest last year the Ultra Race will this year be a separately organised event. With the new sponsorship of The Ship Inn at March the generous prize money will be £150 to the winner, 2nd £100 and 3rd £50. The first Lady will receive £150. Entries are limited to 100. All Ultra runners will start from Peterborough Cathedral at 8.30am. There is a 7 hour cut-off time, all runners must be at Welney by 1.30pm. This is for the safety of the runners.
The Relay will start at 9 am from Peterborough Cathedral and following the Hereward Way for 38.4 miles to Ely Cathedral, crossing over bridleways, fields, bridges and tracks. Runners for Stage 4 still at Welney will leave together at 1.30pm. Team times will be adjusted accordingly. Be aware of changes on Stage 2 - avoiding crossing railway line - Stage 3 slightly changed and Stage 4 - also avoiding crossing railway line. Follow signs and Marshals directions. Teams of 4 runners. (See note below)* Trophies to:- First Three Teams and First Two Ladies Teams. Individual prizes to 1st Man: 1st Vet Man: 1st Lady: 1st Vet Lady: in each stage. Horsebrass to all finishers. Refreshments, Hot food at Welney, parking and toilets at all change-over points. PLEASE NOTE: Finish at Ely City Football Club, presentations in the clubhouse around 3 pm. If Welney Wash is flooded the last stage will be in reverse, Welney back to March and presentations at 'Young People March' (near the change-over point at March). *PLEASE NOTE:- No official changes on the day. Last changes accepted Saturday 12 noon by mail , email or 'phone. Runners can change stages on Sunday but will not be eligible for stage prizes.
